About
Biography:
Howard Mahan is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter originally from Fredonia, Kansas and now based out of Lawrence, Kansas. Howard started playing guitar in a family band at age 9 and hasn’t stopped since. "Howard Mahan & Friends" has been together as a concept since 2016 with various line ups, playing every bar, club, and festival in the area, especially in the post-pandemic era. The band has recorded three all-original albums since 2020, creating a sound that spans blues and rock roots, jam music, Americana, and more. Howard also plays solo acoustic shows, duo shows with various artists, and plays guitar with other groups (the Sean McDonnell band, Randy McAllister, etc.). (2025) Howard Mahan; Hope on Credit The third full-length studio record, set to be released on 2/14/2025. Where as Marigold is at its core a trio album, Hope on Credit expands the musical interplay between various instruments for a wider sound. Phrases that were kicked around during recording were "this is the Electric Ladyland approach" or "what if we were in Little Feat?" The concept for the songs for the album all stem from the track "Tell Me a Story," and the song's theme's highlight the impact of communication. Featuring: Vivid Jojo, Jimmy Lacy, TJ Erhardt, Chase McRoy, and Randy McAllister. See full discography page for more information! |
